General Help Section

This is where general help tips, and other stuff will reside in the near future, please bear with us as it is a slow process and we're doing this in our spare time. You can also request instructions on how to do certain things in either text, or possibly a video form. They will be uploaded and listed here in the future.

General Protection Help

Virus Software: One of the best I've found, is Avast! free, it's got tons of featuress, daily updates, and scans webpages even before you visit them.
It can be downloaded Here

AntiSpyware Software: It's also good to have some spyware protection, also free; Spybot Search & Destroy has been a personal favorite.
It can be downloaded Here

AntiAdware Software: Along with Spybot, you might like some Adware programs if you're a security nut. Most of the time Spybot catches it, but AdAware might be a good addition as well.
It can be downloaded Here

Firewall Software: Last but almost most important, a good firewall. You may think "I use Windows Firewall, I'm safe..." You're wrong... It filters incoming traffic only, so if you already have it, it can send out info without being noticed. Formerly "Kerio" it was bought by sunbelt, but remains my favorite firewall (I still use the Kerio branded one), but Sunbelt Personal Firewall lets you monitor and control many aspects of your connections, the free version is well enough for any regular, or advanced user. The pro version is very good for hardcore security nuts.
It can be downloaded Here

Advanced Help: If you think the programs are not removing what is messing with your computer, you may download HijackThis. It scans for BHOs, running DLLs, and other various things. It's not an install, but a single EXE program. Download, then run using the button "Scan and Save Log"
Download one of these. Version 1.99.1 or Version 2.0.2 Version 2 is Trend Micro, 1.99 is before it was bought by Trend Micro.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET!!
Some of what it finds is also legit stuff, like Adobe's PDF plugin or the Google toolbar for example. Email either Masterlink or Unknown_Entity the logfile you saved, we shall email you back what you need to checkmark and 'fix' to get rid of. After 'fixing' what we send back, please rescan and send a new log, to make sure everything has been removed.
